R.I.P. Miree New 15.6.1959 - 16.2.2011

Miree New arrived with her family in Indonesia in early 2000. It didn’t take Miree long to fall in love with Indonesia. In her first few years in Jakarta she worked for a travel company and took clients on excursions in Kalimantan to see the orangutan habitats. In 2003 she joined Santa Fe where she spent the remaining years of her life, assisting newcomers to Jakarta to settle in. On the 16th February 2011, whilst Miree was in hospital diagnosed with Typhoid, she suddenly developed an onset of complications and which quickly claimed her life. During her life and her time in Indonesia, Miree’s devotion to her family and friends, her willingness to help her friends in need, give advice and support when needed, touched the lives of so many. She loved Indonesia and its people and it fitting that this is where she left us. Her presence will be missed dearly. We will update this site once arrangements are known for her farewell wake. Dearest Miree, your warmth, love, kindness and generosity touched the lives of so many as you gave back so much to our community. Your charming smile and personality will be sadly missed by all of us and you will forever be in our hearts.
